I have not been able to track down the first publication of this story, but assume it was in a British newspaper in 1934. It is only known now from a translation which appeared in the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten on Friday 11 January, 1935 under the title "Hans siste spinn". It narrates the musings of a taxi driver, culminating in a fatal skid. (My thanks to Geir Berge for this information.)
