Ashcombe Road, Weston-super-mare

Road sign

37 Ashcombe Road, Weston-super-Mare, was where Canning lived from 1931 tio 1934. It has now been divided into three small flats, but apart from the satellite dish probably looks much the same as it did when he lived there. Weston Grand Pier, built in 1903 and rebuilt in 1933 following a fire in 1930, was probably where Canning met his first wife Phyllis. Now another major fire has destroyed it again (28 July 2008).
