A Friend of the Family

Short Story (4,150 words)

A diplomat returns to learn that his god-daughter has become engaged. He meets the fiancé, takes him fishing, and tries to re-ignite an old romance with the god-daughter's mother.

This was written as one of a series of stories by different authors on the theme of engagements.
