The Lion Tamer

Short story (2,540 words)

Young Freddie has seen a poster for a circus and is very impressed by the picture of Herculax the lion tamer. His parents won't pay for a ticket, so he sets out to earn the ninepence admission. But will Herculax live up to his image?

This is a very early story, but is a far more accomplished and mature work than its surviving predecessors.
