Star Stuff

Short Story (2,210 words)

The narrator is assistant to the famous black-and-white film producer Otto Heldmaster, and tells how he accidentally launched the film star Tania Lamont on her career. One night after dinner with the producer, he is approached by a woman who wants him to get her a part and will pay £2000 for his help. He works out a scheme that seems perfect, but will it succeed?

Canning had considerable experience of the world of film and TV production, and writes very convincingly of this milieu.
