Short Story (5,500 words)

A light-hearted story about a car race.

Professor Fitzharris and Sir John Coddinstone are veteran car enthusuasts and long-standing rivals. At an auction Sir John's agent and mechanic, Richard Denby, bids an outrageous amount for a car the Professor wants. Then Richard meets the Professor's daughter and proposes to her. She will only marry him with her father's approval, which after the auction is unlikely to be given. But love will find a way.
